Saints make their final away trip of the season this Saturday to face Alba Thistle at Seedhill Park, Paisley. Alba are currently in tenth place in the Scottish Amateur Football League Premier Division with ten points from sixteen matches and have this and one further home match against Eaglesham left to avoid the ignominy of finishing bottom of the league. Owing to the departure from the Scottish Amateur Football League of Eaglesham, Haldane United and Thorn Athletic there is unlikely to be any relegation from the Premier Division therefore the final league standings will be a matter of pride alone. Saints are also now just playing for pride as their league title aspirations were extinguished several weeks ago with the home defeat to Thorn Athletic effectively being the last nail in the coffin.
Saints and Alba were due to meet at Glencruitten earlier in the season but unfortunately Alba were unable to raise a team on the day and Saints were awarded the points for an unfulfilled fixture. In last season's meeting at Seedhill Saints had to fight back from a 3 - 1 half time deficit to secure a hard fought 5 - 4 win. Two goals each from Allan Mackay and Donald Campbell and one from Ross Maitland were just enough to secure the points against an Alba side who battled all the way on the short and bumpy surface. The usual mixture of injuries, holidays and work commitments will stretch Saints resources but with little pressure on either side an open and entertaining game of football is in prospect with every member of the travelling party likely to get a good run-out.
