After three weeks on the road Oban Saints return from their travels to home turf this Saturday for the first ever visit to Glencruitten of last season's Scottish Amateur Football League Premier Division One Champions Barrhead Arky.
Saturday's fixture should have seen Saints open their West of Scotland Amateur Cup 2018-19 campaign with a home first round fixture against Rannoch. However the Greater Glasgow Premier Amateur Football League Third Division are unable to make the trip to Oban handing Saints a walkover into round two.
With eight Premier Division teams involved in West of Scotland Cup action the only league fixture available for Saints was a quick return match against Arky whom they faced in Barrhead just three weeks ago. On that occasion Saints recovered from a first half Craig Cameron strike to claim the three points thanks to two successfully converted second half Lewis Cameron penalty kicks.
Barrhead Arky, who had opened their season with a crushing 6 - 1 Centenary Cup win away at Ferguslie Satr, followed up their opening day league defeat to Saints with a share of the points in an entertaining local derby against Alba Thistle. A third consecutive home league fixture saw Arky succumb to a four goal defeat to reigning Premier Division Champions, and last season's Scottish Amateur Cup runners-up, Goldenhill who look in no mood to relinquish their crown.
Saturday's fixture should be another entertaining encounter particularly with Arky planning to fill a thirty three seater bus for the trip. In charge of proceedings is Campbeltown whistler Archie Mitchell.
