Central Scottish Amateur Football League
Division 1B

Kick-off 3pm

An exciting new chapter for Oban Saints begins on Saturday 10th August when the D&K Lafferty (Contractors) Ltd. sponsored side make their eagerly anticipated debut in the Central Scottish Amateur Football League.

Widely considered to be the top league set-up in Scottish amateur football, the Central League has produced the winners of the Scottish Amateur Cup in six of the past ten seasons and an equal amount of West of Scotland Amateur Cup winners during the same period.

Saints have of course on many occasions faced top opposition from their new league set-up in the major cup competitions but it is hoped that the move from the Scottish Amateur Football League, the clubs home for forty two years, will see them pit their wits against the nation's elite amateur clubs on a more regular basis.

To reach the top flight of the Central Scottish Amateur Football League Saints must first successfully negotiate a path through Division 1B, already labelled by some pundits as "the group of death". Battling it out alongside Saints in what promises to be an extremely competitive division are Blantyre RGM, Bridgewater, Cambusnethan Talbot, Clydebank, Craigneuk, Garrowhill Thistle, Lesmahagow and Stedfast K.

The first of Saints sixteen Division 1B league fixtures comes this Saturday on the 3G surface at Dalziel Park, Motherwell against Wishaw based Craigneuk Amateurs. The North Lanarkshire men are beginning their third season in the Central Scottish Amateur Football League and, after two seasons spent adjusting to the League's high standard, will be looking to stake their claim for promotion to the top flight.

Following Saturday's opening fixture Saints loyal fan base, the Glencruitten faithful, will get their first glimpse of their favourites in competitive action in back to back home matches against Lesmahagow and Clydebank.

Taking charge of proceedings for this Saturday's 2pm kick off at Dalziel Park is Referee Mr Sean Murdoch.

Scottish Amateur Cup

In Wednesday's Scottish Amateur Cup first round draw Saints were one of twenty six West Region clubs to receive a bye. The three other Central Scottish Amateur Football League representatives to receive byes were Blantyre RGM, Bridgewater and Cambusnethan Talbot which, with all four clubs competing in Division 1B, gives Match Secretary Ross Stirling a few different options for his fixtures schedule on Saturday 7th September.

Player of the Year 2018 - 19

The Oban Saints Player of the Year award for 2018 - 19 went, unsurprisingly, to Lewis Cameron who also scooped the top goalscorer award. Even less of a surprise was that, when the trophy was presented on the players night out in Inverness last Saturday, nobody was sober enough to take a picture of the presentation.
